Please answer the following questions. Limit responses to 350 words or less, with the exception of question #4, which does not have a word limit.
1. What do you seek to gain by participating in the NLDP and why are you involved in helping to make Cleveland a better community?
*
2. While NLDP prefers applicants to have a project on which they are already working, it will consider accepting applicants who have well thought out projects or ideas in the initial stages of development as long as they are feasibly productive for their communities.
Describe the project that will be the focus of your work if accepted into the program. Please indicate the status of your project in terms of its development. (Example: I bring small groups of neighborhood kids together to learn about mediation. The issue of youth violence is important to me because of the escalating violence between children with little positive parental guidance in my neighborhood. I have been involved with this project for the past two years, and am planning to expand the project to reach more children.)
*
3. List the neighborhood organizations and/or projects you are, or have been, actively involved in. Describe your role within the organization/project.
*
4. What are your top three personal values (value being defined as a fundamental principle or standard that defines your character and community work) that guide your community engagement? Please explain.
5. What does social justice mean to you and, particularly, for historically disenfranchised communities or populations, including people of color, immigrant populations, etc.? What have you done or how would you like to achieve greater social justice in your community?
